David Plettner
"I am inspired by the creativity of arts and cultural communities that I have worked with around the country. I find that communities that value and support their arts and cultural economies have greater vitality; citizens of these communities better understand the uniqueness of their lives and they celebrate their sense of place."

In addition to managing our firm, I provide C+PG's leadership in cultural planning for state and municipal governments, in the design and evaluation of grantmaking programs, and for our efforts to develop new strategies for building organizational capacities.

My work focuses on developing consensus towards solutions. I am interested in how communities and organizations discover and adapt ideas for their creative development.

Some recent and current projects are:

• Adapt = Survive (Thrive = Anticipate), a three-year, longitudinal study that examines how nonprofit arts organizations respond to the current environment of accelerating and discontinuous change.

• Cultural Nexus, an effort to develop new strategies
  for leveraging inter- and intra-disciplinary collaboration among Pasadena, California's extraordinary community
  of artistic, scientific and educational assets.
  
  
• The Bridge Project, research about the unique characteristics of arts and cultural institutions that are rooted in specific geographic, cultural, or artistic communities; we examined ways to support and strengthen their legacy.
